Florida baseball: Kevin O’Sullivan named national coach of the year
Author JORDAN MCPHERSON
After leading the Florida baseball team to its first national championship in program history, Kevin O’Sullivan was named Collegiate Baseball’s National Coach of the Year.
The Gators have become a national powerhouse in the last 10 years under O’Sullivan. Florida has reached the NCAA Tournament every year and clinched a spot the College World Series in six of the past eight seasons — more than any other team during that span.
In 2016-17, the Gators had 13 teams finish in the top 10 nationally, 10 in the top five. Three teams won a national championship.
We finished third in the Directors Cup competition.
So proud of Coach O’Sullivan and this amazing team. They find a way to win, and win they did! Two straight over LSU! Thanks for an unforgettable season
The Gators shut out TCU in the elimination game to earn their way to the Championship Series. This team has faced adversity all season and have repeatedly shown they are battle tested.
The Gator Nation is fortunate and very proud of the team, coaches and staff. No matters what happens, this has been a great season. It will be fantastic to win the College World Series. Go GATORS!!
