Urgent Call for Action

Mission:  The Florida Senate Appropriations Committee will ‘hear” House Bill 1 on Friday morning (April 9th), at 8:30 a.m.  If passed, the bill will add felony status for vandalism of monuments in Florida….what we have been fighting for years!

How to Help:

*** Use our “Widget” to send emails and phone calls to Appropriations Committee members ***

The widget will offer a pre-filled email that will automatically be sent to all Senators on the Committee and users like its ease of use.  It is also supposed to provide the ability to send a video or connect you to the senator’s office.

(we are not recommending attending the committee meeting for multiple reasons)

Background:

For years, the Florida Senate has blocked ANY efforts to protect ANY historic monuments in Florida.

This year, on the heels of the violent “George Floyd” riots (aka ‘peaceful protests’) around the state this summer, Florida Governor Ron Desantis announced he wanted an anti-riot law that included penalties for vandalizing monuments passed this session.

The bill has passed the House, and along the way attracted opposition from the radical groups that we have seen in our fights around the state:  Anti-fa, BLM, Socialist Democrats, CAIR, etc., etc.  Republic legislators got to see firsthand the hate spewed by the actual advocates of violent riots as they defended their tactics that we have been watching for years.

Under pressure from the Governor, the House Bill (HB 1) will be heard in one senate committee (Appropriations) before going to the Senate Floor for a vote.

THEY will be sending thousands of emails, and we need to give some support to this “vehicle” that gives us what we want – felony crime status for monument vandalism.

We have activated our new WIDGET to allow you to quicky send a message to all of the Senate Appropriations Committee members, and view this is an opportunity to tell them the bill doesn’t go far enough!!!!

Why?  It still doesn’t stop radical blue cities from taking down monuments like Orlando, Fort Myers, St. Augustine and Pensacola, NOR does it give “CITIZEN STANDING” to sue, which has thwarted efforts to seek justice in court.

The widget offers you a preformatted email you can customize.  There is also an option to call the Senate Appropriations Committee Members if you choose.

We believe this is a “Consequences Bill”.  It doesn’t prevent anything but, if a vandal is captured, the consequences are greater.  The media has tried to make this a “Confederate Monument protection Bill” but the multi-hundred-page bill only dedicates a few lines to monuments, and doesn’t even use the word “Southern” or “Confederate”.

As we know and others are learning, the attacks on the civic landscape just started with our monuments, even Lincoln, Washington, Columbus and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. monuments have been targets of these radicals.

Please share this email with other concerned friends and family.  This will be a great win for us if HB 1 passes!
-Thank you
