Isaias is moving toward the northwest near 15 mph (24 km/h), and a general northwestward motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected for the next day or so, followed by a turn toward the north-northwest by late Sunday. On the forecast track, the center of Isaias will move near or over the Central Bahamas tonight, near or over the Northwestern Bahamas Saturday and near the east coast of the Florida peninsula Saturday afternoon through Sunday. Maximum sustained winds are near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is expected through early Saturday, and Isaias is forecast to remain a hurricane for the next couple of days. Isaias is moving toward the northwest near 18 mph (30 km/h), and a generally northwestward motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected for the next couple of days followed by turn toward the north-northwest. On the forecast track, the center of Isaias will move near or over the Southeastern Bahamas by late tonight. Isaias is forecast to be near the Central Bahamas Friday night and move near or over the Northwestern Bahamas and near South Florida on Saturday. Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Strengthening is forecast during the next day or so, and Isaias is forecast to become a hurricane by Friday night. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 240 miles (390 km) from the center. An unofficial observing station on Big Ambergris Cay in the Turks and Caicos Islands recently reported a sustained wind of 43 mph (69 km/h) and had a gust to 54 mph (87 km/h) a few hours ago.
